Important Message From Langwasser & Company CPAs

As a result of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, we want to share information about the steps we’ve taken to minimize any potential impact to our clients and maximize our efforts to keep our team and clients safe.

First and foremost, this unprecedented event has all of us focused on the safety and well-being of our clients, team members and all those effected. We are closely monitoring the impact COVID-19 is having by staying on top of the rapidly changing information to see how it could affect our clients and communities.

As part of our routine business operations, we have a continuity plan in place to minimize any possible disruption to our firm’s day-to-day business and to ensure our ability to serve our clients' needs. As always, we are fully prepared to continue the exceptional level of customer care you have come to expect from Langwasser & Co, CPAs

  • Employee and Client Health is a primary concern.  We have implemented the following plans of action:

    • We have mandated that employees not come to the office with any signs of illness or if they suspect that they have been exposed to individuals with COVID-19.
    • All individuals who enter our office are requested to wash their hands immediately.
    • After each in office visit, the desk and chairs are wiped down and sanitized.
    • For those clients, who with an abundance of caution, want to cancel their in-office meetings we can offer teleconference or internet-based conference meetings.
    • As in the past we will continue to process information sent via mail and, if requested, a secure link over email.
    • We have also minimized group meetings and travel to limit the potential exposure.

  • We already have remote capabilities in place for employees to maintain operational integrity and continue services for our clients.

  • We are in constant contact with our service and technology partners to ensure they are prepared and ready to respond to this constantly changing environment.

Below are links to the US Department of the Treasury & the California State Treasurer discussing current and possible upcoming changes to tax return due dates and payment dates.

US Department of the Treasury - https://home.treasury.gov/news/press-releases/sm948

  • The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) today issued guidance allowing all individual and other non-corporate tax filers to defer up to $1 million of federal income tax (including self-employment tax) payments due on April 15, 2020, until July 15, 2020, without penalties or interest.  The guidance also allows corporate taxpayers a similar deferment of up to $10 million of federal income tax payments that would be due on April 15, 2020, until July 15, 2020, without penalties or interest.  This guidance does not change the April 15 filing deadline.

  • Prompted by the COVID-19 pandemic, Franchise Tax Board leaders on Friday announced they would grant an extension to make payments until June 15, in accordance with Gov. Gavin Newsom’s March 12 executive order. Also, partnerships and LLCs who are taxed as partnerships and whose tax returns are due on March 15 now have a 90-day extension to file and pay by June 15. The new extensions announced in the March 13, 2020 news release apply to any business entity with a California return or payment due between March 15 and June 15. This includes Corporations, S-Corps, LLCs, Partnerships, and other entity types with returns due during this period. Individual filers whose tax returns are due on April 15 now have a 60-day extension to file and pay by June 15.

The Langwasser Team is fully in place to honor our commitment to you as we all work through this unprecedented challenge together.  We are available for any questions or concerns you might have, so please do not hesitate to call us, we are always here to help.

Thank You,

Your Langwasser Team
